HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has said that people have entrusted the ruling coalition with a significant responsibility, and it is now the duty of the TDP rank and file to work tirelessly to resolve public issues.

Mr. Lokesh was speaking at a coordination meeting of the TDP leaders and cadre from the Machilipatnam Assembly constituency on Wednesday.

“Machilipatnam is synonymous with the TDP, and TDP is synonymous with Machilipatnam. Whenever we won here, we saw victory across the State,” Mr. Lokesh observed, praising the resilience of the party workers, who stood strong despite facing false cases during the previous YSRCP regime.

Recalling how Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, while in the Opposition, had faced multiple false cases, but continued to serve the party and its leadership with dedication, Mr. Lokesh urged the TDP leaders not to forget the struggles of the past, and to continue serving with the same spirit.

He paid tributes to veterans such as Chennupati Gandhi, Manjula Reddy, Anjireddy Tata, and Thota Chandrayya on the occasion.

Mr. Lokesh announced that the government would begin providing unemployment allowance this year, along with fulfilling other key promises.

“We’re recruiting over 16,000 teachers through a mega DSC, attracting major companies, and creating jobs on a large scale,” he said.

Emphasising the TDP’s commitment to women empowerment, Mr. Lokesh said, “Our party respects and supports women. We are giving three free LPG cylinders to them per year and depositing the subsidy directly into women’s bank accounts every four months.” Welfare pensions in Andhra Pradesh were unmatched, he said, adding that ₹4,000 was being given to the senior citizens, ₹6,000 to the differently-abled, and ₹15,000 to those with complete disability.

Door-to-door campaign

Mr. Lokesh urged the cadre to take the coalition government’s development and welfare schemes to every household starting July 2, as part of the ‘Good Governance – First Step’ initiative.

He directed that every leader, during constituency tours, must first hold meetings with the party workers. “Those who have filed false cases against us are now saluting us — that is the beauty of democracy,” he said.

Mr.  Ravindra, Machilipatnam TDP parliamentary unit president and RTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana, district in-charge Minister Vasamshetty Subhash, zonal in-charge Manthena Satyanarayana Raju, former Deputy Speaker B. Vedavyas, and constituency observer L. Sairam Prasad Goud were present.
