A 34-year-old woman died after being run over by a water tanker in Manikonda on Tuesday, July 29.
The victim, Iruvuri Shalini, a software professional and resident of BRC Apartments in Puppalaguda, was returning home on a two-wheeler after dropping her children at their school bus stop near Dargah X Roads.
According to Raidurgam police, the accident was reported at around 8:45 a.m. near Sundar Gardens, Manikonda. “Shalini was attempting to overtake the water tanker from the right when an auto came from the opposite direction. In a bid to avoid it, she swerved slightly to the left and came under the rear tyre of the tanker,” said Inspector Ch. Venkanna.
She died on the spot due to severe head injuries. A case has been registered, and the tanker driver has been taken into custody. Police said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events.
