Excise Minister R. B. Thimmapur, who is also in charge of Bagalkot district, has expressed concern over the delay in appropriate resettlement and rehabilitation of farmers whose land was submerged by the Almatti dam .
At a meeting in Mudhol on June 25, he said he found the government machinery to be inefficient.
“I have been urging the government of Karnataka to speed up the R&R efforts for UKP third phase. But there has been a long delay of over six months. The CM and Deputy CM had assured me in December 2024 that the work would be started soon. It is yet to start.”
He said he would appeal to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take up the work on priority.
