Two people, including a teenager, died after falling into a pond in Madanayakanahalli police station limits on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Dhan Raj, 14, and Prabhakar, 28, from Thimmenahalli in Bengaluru North taluk.
According to the police, Dhan Raj entered into the pond to recover a cricket ball that fell inside. Since he could not swim, he began to drown.
Prabhakar, who owned a tea stall nearby, saw Raj and jumped in to rescue him. However, both drowned.
The Fire and Emergency Services and police personnel were alerted, who rushed to the spot after a few hours of search operations and recovered the bodies and shifted to hospital for post mortem.
