A 15-year-old teengar was killed after the tractor he was traveling overturned in the farmland at Elanthampudur village near Odugathur town in Vellore on Friday.

A 15-year-old teenager was killed after the tractor he was sitting overturned, crushing him in his farmland at Elanthampudur village near Odugathur town in Vellore on Friday.
Police said the deceased has been identified as S. Siva, a school dropout. He was living with his parents and involved in farm activities in their three acre farmland.
As Anaicut region is witnessing regular downpour, K. Swaminathan (45), deceased Siva’s father, decided to cultivate paddy for the season. Accordingly, he asked tractor owner K. Mani (30) to plough the farmland for the purpose.
On Friday, along with Siva, who sat next to him, Mani ploughed the farmland with his tractor when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. In the impact, the tractor overturned. Mani managed to jump from the vehicle whereas young Siva got trapped under the tractor.
Immediately, other farmers rescued Siva and admitted at Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore where doctors declared him dead. A case was registered. A probe is underway.
