Sunjay Kapur’s funeral to take place in Delhi today, children with ex-wife Karisma Kapoor sign note issued by family | Bollywood News


Sunjay Kapur, businessman and actor Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, died on June 13 due to a cardiac arrest after he reportedly swallowed a bee while playing polo in London. After a week of formalities, including post-mortem, Sunjay’s body has been brought to Delhi. As per sources close to the family, his last rites will take place at the Lodhi Cremation Ground today at 5 pm.

The Kapur family also issued a statement on Wednesday, which quotes an excerpt from the Guru Granth Sahib. Details of Sunjay’s prayer meet are also mentioned in the note. It’ll take place from 4 to 5 pm on Sunday, June 22 at Taj Palace, New Delhi. The note has been signed by Sunjay’s mother Rani Surinder Kapur, wife Priya Kapur, their kids Safira and Azarias.

Sunjay’s kids from his previous marriage with Karisma — Samaira and Kiaan — also signed the note. Sunjay and Karisma, who tied the knot in 2003, separated in 2016.

On Wednesday, Sunjay’s automobile company Sona Comstar, founded in 1995, also issued a statement. “The Board of Directors regrets the untimely demise of Mr. Sunjay Kapur, the erstwhile Chairman of Sona Comstar and expresses its condolences to Mr. Kapur’s family. His vision, values, and dedication to excellence will continue to guide and inspire the governance and performance of the Company.”

The company also revealed its plans to choose a new successor soon. “The Board of Directors of the Company has had in place a professional management team under the leadership of its Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Vivek Vikram Singh, since 2019. We have full faith in the management team’s ability to lead the Company under the supervision of the Board. The Board of Directors of the Company will meet in due course to elect a new chairman of the Board,” it stated.

“We would like to re-assure our customers, business partners, employees, and shareholders that it is business as usual at the Company, and that no changes in management are envisaged,” the statement added.
