On July 9th, 2025, Gujarat’s Mujpur-Gambhira bridge collapsed into the Mahisagar River, killing 19 and leaving 2 missing. Vehicles plunged into the river as the ageing structure gave way. Despite years of warnings, no major repairs were done. Rescue efforts faced tough monsoon currents and chemical hazards. The tragedy raises urgent questions about infrastructure safety in India.
