Senior Congress leader and former minister Chandrashekhar Dubey, popularly known as Dadai Dubey, died at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday (July 10, 2025) evening, a party leader said.
He was 87 and had been undergoing treatment for the past one-and-a-half months, Palamu district Congress committee chief Jayesh Kumar Pathak, alias Bittu Pathak, said.
Mr. Pathak said Dubey represented Bisrampur Assembly constituency in Palamu district five times. He also served as a Member of Parliament from Dhanbad constituency.
Expressing condolence over Dubey’s demise, Mr. Pathak said he lost a father-like guardian.
In his condolence message, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said Dubey’s death was an irreparable damage for Jharkhand.
In a post on X, Mr. Soren stated “Remaining active in politics for a long time, Dubey always raised his voice for the rights and entitlement of people. His death was an irreparable damage for Jharkhand.” “May Marang Buru grant peace to departed soul and give strength to the grieving family to bear the sorrow”, he added.
AICC Jharkhand in-charge K Raju and JPCC president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh and his predecessor Rajesh Thakur also condoled Dubey’s death.
