AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday criticised the DMK government over an order of the Police Department affecting the promotion process of several police personnel and further called for withdrawing it.
Referring to a recent decision, Mr. Palaniswami cited claims from personnel that it would affect the promotions of about 35,000 policemen who had joined service between 2001 and 2005.
“I urge the DMK government to withdraw the order that would affect a majority of police personnel and to further grant promotion of police personnel as special sub inspector to those, who have completed 20 years in service. In fact, it was in the DMK’s electoral manifesto.”
Meanwhile, expelled AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam in a statement criticised the DMK government over alleged shortage of doctors in State-run hospitals. During the past four years, sufficient number of doctors, nurses, lab technicians and others have not been appointed, he said.
Mr. Panneerselvam further sought Chief Minister’s personal intervention in the matter so that doctors, nurses and others were appointed as per the need. He also insisted to appoint necessary staff in Government Pentland Hospital in Vellore.
