Over six lakh cusecs of floodwater is being released into the sea at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram apart from diverting nearly 10,000 cusecs into the Godavari Delta through the existing canals. The inflow of floodwater is expected to increase by Monday at the barrage. However, there is no threat of floods in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district downstream of the barrage.
The inhabitants of the three islands in P. Gannavaram mandal have been directed not to cross the river except in cases of health emergency. The officials are monitoring the floodwater level. The first Godavari flood warning will be issued when the inflow touches 10 lakh cusecs at Dowleswaram.
