No expenditure has been incurred by the government on engaging any social media influencer till date, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).
In a written reply to a query of MP Bachhav Shobha Dinesh, Mr. Murugan said MyGov is a citizen engagement platform for information dissemination and fostering participatory governance.
“MyGov regularly engages with relevant stakeholders for disseminating information about government programmes directly and through empaneled agencies. Interactions of Hon’ble Ministers and senior officers with media are part of such outreach activities,” the Minister said.
“On March 7, 2023, MyGov issued Request for Quotation (RFQ) for engagement of Influencer Marketing Agencies. Eight agencies were empaneled following the due process. Till date, no expenditure has been incurred for engaging any social media influencer,” Mr. Murugan said in his reply.
