Mother of stampede victim files theft case

The mother of one of the victims, who died in the stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL victory celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team on June 4, has filed a complaint with the Commercial Street police station on Thursday that a pair of earrings her daughter wore was stolen during post-mortem.

Based on the complaint filed by Ashwini, mother of 18-year-old Divyanshi, the police have registered a case of theft on Thursday against the staff of the post-mortem section.

In her complaint, Ashwini said that the earrings, which were gifted by her brother to Divyanshi a year and a half ago, were found missing when the body was handed over to her.

The family suspects that the staff at the mortuary section might have stolen them and sought the police to conduct an investigation.

The police have launched a probe into the matter.
