Police personnel and the villagers with the rescued mentally-challenged youth in Bejjur of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district on Wednesday.
A mentally-ill youth, stranded in a graveyard surrounded by swirling waters of a flooded stream, was rescued by the police with the help of local villagers in Bejjur mandal headquarters town of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district on Wednesday.
According to sources, the youth was stranded in the graveyard while wandering in the area after the local stream suddenly swelled due to heavy overnight rainfall.
Upon learning about the incident, a police team rushed to the other side of the stream and launched a rescue operation involving local swimmers. The youth was brought to the shore safely with the help of ropes.
The swift rescue operation came in for praise from the villagers.
