A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his parents following a dispute over a piece of land jointly developed on a hill for ‘podu’ cultivation at Turruvada village under Maredumilli police limits in Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district. Meanwhile, people from Konda Reddi tribe clear the forest to raise crops for their livelihood with the podu cultivation method.
According to local police, the accused, Andala Malli Reddi, allegedly beat his parents, Saynani Reddi (56) and Boddemma (53), to death with a log while the two were sleeping on Friday night. The incident came to light on Saturday. Maredumilli police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Maredumilli government hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
