Man held for possession of unlicensed pistol in Tiruvannamalai


A 48-year-old man was arrested by Thandrampattu police in Tiruvannamalai for possession of unlicensed pistol and threatening the house owner for asking him to vacate the house.

Police said the arrested person was identified as Sayeed Ali, a businessman. Initial inquiry revealed that the victim Murthy (32), a resident of Thandarampattu town, had leased his first floor of the house to Ali for a year.

As the lease period got completed, Murthy asked Ali to vacate the house. However, police said that Ali allegedly threatened Murthy with dire consequences for asking him to vacate the house.

Following the incident, Murthy filed a complaint with the police, who inspected Ali’s house. Police found a pistol for which Ali was unable to produce a license. Ali was arrested and lodged at sub-jail in Tiruvannamalai town. A probe is underway.
