The flooding in the river Cauvery triggered by heavy rains has cut off the Holakere Road in Karadigodu village in Ammathi hobli, disrupting access to the village.

The Revenue Department officials visited the site and conducted an on-ground assessment. They have issued an advisory urging residents not to venture into flood-prone areas.

People living in the affected areas have been asked to relocate to nearby relief centres.

The authorities have arranged an alternative route to manage the situation to ensure the safety of the public. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed in Kodagu to assist the district administration in relief and rescue operations.

The team recently visited Harangi dam, flood-prone areas in Kushalnagar and other places to assess the flood risk and review preparatory measures.

The NDRF personnel were evaluating on-ground conditions and taking up measures for public safety. Since the devastating floods and landslides that struck Kodagu in 2018 and 2019, the NDRF is being deployed in the district every monsoon as a safety measure.
