Karnataka CM to launch development works worth ₹1,146.76 crore in Maddur taluk on July 28

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch development works worth ₹ 1,146.76 crore for Maddur taluk at a programme scheduled to be held on Monday, July 28.

The entrance to the venue of the function to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for the projects at Maddur has been designed in the style of Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha.

Exhibition stalls to create awareness about the government programmes will also be set up at the venue by various departments, including Agriculture and Horticulture.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Minister in charge of Mandya district N. Cheluvarayaswamy, and others are also expected to participate in the programme.

Speaking about the programme, MLA for Maddur M.K. Uday said that a host of projects aimed at development of canals and lakes, which benefit the farmers, along with works related to roads, drainage and drinking water supply will be inaugurated or launched during the event.

Pointing out that the July 28 event in Maddur showed that the Congress government was prioritising development, Mr. Uday urged the public to participate in the function and join hands with the government in its development efforts.

About 500 buses have been arranged to ferry the public for the programme.

Disclosing the details of the programme, Deputy Commissioner of Mandya Kumar said that a total of 87 projects across 16 departments will be either inaugurated or their foundation stones will be laid.

Out of the 87 projects with a cumulative cost of ₹ 1,146.76 crore, the foundation stones will be laid for 60 projects, while another 27 projects will be inaugurated.

Superintendent of Mandya district police Mallikarjuna Baladandi said that adequate parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles arriving from various parts of the district.

To ensure proper security arrangements for the event, about 1,000 police personnel will be deployed.

Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat K.R. Nandini said 14 identity documents will be distributed to 85 liberated bonded labourers under the ‘Nanna Guruthu’ programme.

Additionally, financial assistance will be provided to two beneficiaries under the Sarathi scheme aimed at helping eligible unemployed youth purchase vehicles like goods vehicles, taxis, and passenger auto rickshaws.
