Inquiry ordered into private person officiating as Sub-Registrar in Belagavi

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has ordered an inquiry into an incident involving a private person officiating as Sub-Registrar in Belagavi.

Some applicants waiting outside the Sub-Registrar office caught Rajshekar Bhimappa Alagudi sitting in the chair of the Sub-Registrar Karibasavana Gowda and clearing files on his computer on Tuesday.

Initially, he claimed that he was authorised by Karibasavana Gouda. But later said that he had come there to drop off his father Bhimappa Alagudi, an attender in the Belagavi North Sub-Registrar office.

Some of them took pictures and videos of Rajshekar operating the computer and issuing land related document copies and shared them on social media.

Karibasavana Gowda said that he did not have any idea how a private person came to sit in his chair or get access to his computer. He said that he will report the matter to senior officers and seek an inquiry.

District Registrar Mahantesh Patatar said that he will ask Karibasavana Gowda to file a police complaint against Rajshekar. He also said that he will initiate disciplinary action against Bhimappa Alagudi whose son is said to have gained unauthorised access to documents.

The Deputy Commissioner said that he will take strict action against such dereliction of duty by officers and ensure that they are not repeated.
