The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) secured the top position in the Andhra Pradesh State-wide sanitation survey conducted through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu announced here on Monday that nine GMC secretariats ranked among the State’s best-20 for efficient waste collection, timely garbage clearance, and drain maintenance.
He credited reforms such as dividing the 57 wards into individual sanitation divisions, assigning dedicated inspectors, and deploying exclusive tractors as steps behind maintaining a clean city. Additional workers were engaged for problem-prone areas, and modern measures like RFID tagging and a central command control room are planned to further enhance services, he added.
