The Thiruvananthapuram City Police have apprehended three people for allegedly smuggling narcotic substances worth nearly ₹20 lakh in the black market on Wednesday.
The District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force nabbed the accused, Shyam of Vattiyurkavu, and Aryanad natives Sanjay and Mohammed Noufal after intercepting their vehicle along the National Highway 66 bypass at Kovalam.
According to the police, the confiscated contraband included 200 grams of MDMA, and an unspecific quantity of hybrid ganja. The group was accompanied by Shyam’s wife and three children in a suspected move to evade attention by the law enforcers.
They are believed to have sourced the narcotic substances from Bengaluru and reached Thiruvananthapuram via Kanniyakumari. Shyam, who had been arrested earlier in connection with another narcotics case, was out on bail.
