Four of a family, including new born died after car fell in a canal in Haldwani

Four persons of a family, including a three-day-old child, died after their car fell into a canal in Haldwani on Wednesday (June 25, 2025) morning.

The family was on its way back home after getting the new born and the mother discharged from the hospital, police said. It was informed that the father, new born and two other family members died as water got entered in the car. The mother and two others were rushed to hospital where they are under treatment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.

“Received the tragic news of a car accident in Haldwani, resulting in the death of four people and injuries to three others. I pray to God for speedy recovery of all the injured,” Mr. Dhami said in a post on X.

The canal was over flown due to the rains that lashed the city in last 24 hours. The rains have also created havoc in other parts of the State triggering landslides in which around 5 people have died in the last 48 hours.
