A five-year-old boy, identified as Prince Kumar, drowned after falling in an agricultural well in Laxmiguda, Mailardevpally, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Mailardevpally Inspector P Narender, the child was playing when he accidentally fell into the well. His parents raised an alarm after he failed to return home, prompting a search.
Emergency services launched an immediate rescue operation.
“Around 15 to 20 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Department and local police are involved in the effort to retrieve the boy’s body,” said the official. He added that approximately 15 to 20 feet of water had already been pumped out of the well, with about 10 feet still remaining.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
