Ensure success of nation-wide strike: CPI

The Communist Party of India (CPI) Kannur district conference has passed a resolution calling on all pro-people workers organisations to join hands to ensure the success of the nation-wide strike scheduled for July 9.

The resolution condemned the Central government’s policies as anti-people, anti-worker, and anti-farmer, blaming them for the hardships faced by the people. It said that the neoliberal economic reforms implemented at the behest of global financial powers, had led to the complete surrender of the Indian economy to corporate capital.

The CPI accused the Centre of prioritising corporate interests while disregarding the welfare of ordinary citizens. It criticised the privatisation of key public sector institutions, including the Railways and defence production units, which, the party said, were vital to the country’s economic self-reliance.

Terming the situation grave, the party called for a relentless mass protest to reverse the policies. The party called upon farmers, workers, and traders to actively participate in the strike to send a strong message against what it described as the Centre’s corporate-driven agenda.
