Enrol anganwadi children above five years of age in government schools, Eluru District Collector tells officials

Eluru District Collector K. Vetriselvi has directed that all children aged five years and above, currently attending Anganwadi centres, must be enrolled in government schools without fail. She emphasised that CDPOs (Child Development Project Officers) and MEOs (Mandal Education Officers) should work in close coordination to ensure this transition is effectively implemented.

The Collector conducted a Zoom conference with school headmasters, education department officials, and ICDS officials from across the district, particularly focusing on schools with zero enrollment.

During the meeting, the Collector instructed the headmasters of zero-enrollment schools to take proactive steps to enrol eligible Anganwadi children into their respective government schools. She stressed the importance of giving this task special attention to improve enrollment rates. In cases where Mandal Education Officers and CDPOs claim that no children are present in the habitation, Ms. Vetriselvi asked them to verify the claim and submit a formal report confirming the same.

ICDS Project Director P. Sharada, DEO M. Venkata Lakshmamma, various Mandal-level Education Officials, Deputy Education Officers, and CDPOs were present.
