Dipika Kakar says she and Shoaib Ibrahim broke down in hospital corridor after finding out she had cancer: ‘I asked doctor…’ | Television News

Actress Dipika Kakar underwent a 14-hour-long surgery last week for a cancerous tumor in her liver. After being hospitalized for almost 11 days, the actress has finally returned home. Recently, Dipika appeared on her vlog for the first time after surgery, thanking fans for their prayers and also sharing her journey during this time. In her YouTube vlog, Dipika revealed that her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, became her backbone in this situation. She even recalled the moment they both broke down in the hospital’s corridor when they learned about her second-stage liver cancer.

Dipika shared, “We were told earlier only it was a major surgery and it made me very anxious, the first and most difficult thing to do was weaning off Ruhaan in one night from breatfeeding, that night I cried a lot, it had to happen one day, but I didn’t wanted it to happen that way. However, there was no option, because I was going to be on lots of medication.”

Remembering the moment, Shoaib and she first learnt about the news of her tumor being malignant, Dipika shared, “I will always remember that corridor of Kokilaben Hospital, by then the AFP reports had come in and we went to show it to the doctor. Shoaib knew about the cancer, but he didn’t tell me. When the doctor was checking, I asked him what the report was, and he looked at me and said, ‘Haan usme gadbad hai’. We both broke down in that hospital corridor when we learned about the cancerous tumor for the first time; both Shoaib and I hugged each other and cried. I had too many fears running through my mind in that moment, especially about Ruhaan.”

“When the doctor confirmed that the tumor was malignant, both of us broke down very badly. I don’t remember what I spoke with the doctor about after that; I was so scared. I remember the first thing I asked him was if I would survive to be around my child or not. That was my biggest fear,” Dipika said.

Dipika Kakar also spoke about her surgery and shared how Shoaib sat outside the operating theater for 12 hours with even eating anything. She said, “I was anxious at every step, from the time I got admitted for the surgery. Shoaib was like my backbone; he looked after me like I was his child. He took care of the smallest of things about me. He has stayed up with me at night, made sure I ate on time, and took my medicines, which made me realize that my well-being is important to somebody other than me. Ever since we learned about the tumor, he has just been with me. On the day of my surgery, Shoaib sat outside the OT without food or water for 12 hours, since no doctor had come out to update. Later, when the doctor informed him that major surgery was done, and it would take two more hours, is when he stepped out and ate something.”

Dipika also shared that her treatment will continue further, and the fight is long. Shoaib also shared that once they visit the doctor, they will know if the treatment will continue for another six months or one year.
