The Thodupuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Wednesday (July 17, 2025) directed the police to register a case against BJP leader P.C. George over his controversial remark at a function at Thodupuzha.
The court order was based on a private petition filed by Youth Congress State general secretary S.T. Anish Kattakkada. Speaking at a function organised by the High Range Rural Development Society on June 26 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Mr. George alleged that those belonging to a particular community were nurturing a generation that believed that others had no right to live.
Those who do not love India have no right to live in the country, he said. His statement had stirred a controversy, and the Youth Congress leader approached the court demanding to register a case against Mr. George and HRDS secretary Aji Krishnan.
Last week the court sought a report from the police regarding the incident.
