Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the district collectors to be on alert in view of the heavy rainfall recorded in the districts.
The Collectors should ensure that officials of the concerned department are geared up to meet the emerging situation in view of the rains. Though the State received 21% less rains till recently, incessant rains are lashing the districts since the past three days mandating the district administrations to take all measures to see that people are not inconvenienced because of the rains.
The Chief Minister held a video conference with District Collectors on Monday to review the situation. He informed that 150 teams were kept ready in the State capital in view of the heavy rains and the administration was dispatching teams in advance to the affected areas factoring in the weather forecast from time to time.

He wanted senior police officials to be on the field while the traffic police should ensure that there were no problems in smooth movement of traffic in the State Capital. Steps should be taken to enumerate losses due to lightning in districts and officials should work in close coordination to avoid spread of communicable diseases in the agency areas. Accordingly, officials were directed to make sure that doctors and medical personnel were available in government hospitals and primary healthcare centres at any point of time. The Veterinary department should be alert to avoid spread of diseases among cattle while it was mandatory for the District Collectors to conduct surprise checks to get first-hand information about the situation at the grassroots level.
“I am directing the District Collectors to mandatorily undertake field visits,” he said cautioning that the government would not spare anyone found guilty of dereliction of duties. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao was directed to submit comprehensive report about working of the Collectors on a daily basis.
The Chief Minister favoured effective water management plans in view of the heavy rains as the State stood in the forefront in the country with 2.85 crore metric tonne food grain production. In addition, steps should be taken to display details of urea stocks available at every shop where fertilisers were sold besides hosting them online.
Mr. Revanth Reddy expressed concern that few vested interests were trying to create artificial scarcity of fertilisers and assured farmers that there was adequate stock of urea available to meet the requirements. He wanted stringent action against dealers indulging in diversion of urea to other purposes asserting that interests of farmers was of paramount interest to the government.
Officials were directed to constitute a special desk enabling farmers to register complaints about shortage of fertilisers if any.
Ration cards
The Chief Minister said there were 96.95 lakh ration cards in the State and officials concerned should take steps to commence distribution of ration cards in all mandal headquarters officially between July 25 and August 10. In-charge Ministers and MLAs should take active part in the distribution of ration cards while the District Collectors should coordinate the programme. Participation of District Collectors and Additional Collectors was mandatory in the ration card distribution for all eligible families.
