Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has set a Guinness World Record for the most pledges received for a water conservation campaign in a week.
BWSSB had launched a water conservation campaign in March during the summer. The campaign was kicked off with a Cauvery Aarti at Sankey Tank on March 21. In the following week, the board received over 5.33 lakh pledges from citizens to conserve water. This is the highest number of pledges in a week for a water conservation project in the world and has been recognised by the Guinness World Records, sources said.
The Guinness World Record Official Certificate acknowledging this will be handed over to Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday.
