Some young farmers tied a buffalo in the gram panchayat office in Sambaragi village near Athani in Belagavi district of Karnataka to express their displeasure with the delay by officials in approving animal sheds.

On June 16, farmers brought a buffalo to the gram panchayat office. The animal was feed jowar stalks.

They complained that GP officials had not cleared funds for 134 animal sheds approved in 2024. They told reporters that they were tired of petitioning the GP, and wanted to protest against the slow pace of work.

Dhareppa Tagali, Panchayat Development Officer, said that he was not at fault. He accused junior engineer Shankar Shastri of sitting on the approvals.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde said that he would tell a senior officer to look into the complaint and resolve the problem by speeding up approvals.
