In a step towards strengthening industry-academia linkages and enhancing student employability, Bangalore University has started skill-based, real-time hands-on practice enabled certification courses, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
These certification courses have been embedded into the curriculum of B.Com, BBA, and other undergraduate programmes under the Faculty of Commerce and Management, offering one academic credit in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th semesters.
The initiative is a part of the University’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with NISM and ICSI—two premier national-level institutions under the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, respectively.
Courses offered under this initiative
The ICSI is offering the following professional certification courses: Financial Accounting and Taxation, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics and Data Visualization, Entrepreneurial Skills and Start-up Management, Tally and Accounting Software, Human Resource Management Practices, Business Communication and Negotiation Skills, Financial Markets and Investment Banking. NISM is offering Financial Literacy for Bharat.
In his remarks, Jayakara S.M., Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University said, “This collaboration is a milestone achievement in aligning academic curriculum with national professional bodies. It prepares our students with real-time, industry-aligned knowledge to thrive in the competitive job market.”
