The mortal remains of Athulya, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Sharjah, were laid to rest at Chavara on Wednesday.
Her body was flown to Thiruvananthapuram early in the morning. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Government Medical College Hospital, Parippally. The body was later taken to her home at Chavara and cremated in the evening.
Athulya was found dead on July 19. According to initial reports, she is believed to have died by suicide following alleged domestic abuse by her husband, Satheesh Sankar.
The Thekkumbhagam police have registered a case against Sankar under various Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Officials said the next steps in the investigation would depend on the findings of the post-mortem report.
