No matter how low we may feel due to stress or setbacks, spending quality time with loved ones has a magical ability to lift our spirits to soaring heights, redeeming us from the abyss of despair. This holds true for renowned filmmaker AR Murugadoss as well. Despite facing a major setback with the box office failure of his Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar two months ago, Murugadoss was recently spotted as ecstatic as ever as he took the stage and cut a rug with his family members during a family function.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Murugadoss is seen grooving to composer Santhosh Narayanan’s hit track “Kanimaa” from director Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro. The song, which became a nationwide sensation upon its release, featured a popular hook step performed by the film’s lead stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde. In the viral video, Murugadoss can be seen dancing to the song on stage with his daughter and son. A few moments later, his wife also joins them, and the family can be seen creating a core memory together.

One of the most successful Tamil filmmakers in recent times, Murugadoss rose to fame with his directorial debut, the Ajith Kumar-starrer Dheena (2001) itself. He followed it up with Ramanaa (2002), featuring “Captain” Vijayakanth and Simran, which also became a blockbuster and won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film. In a remarkable hat-trick, his third film Ghajini (2005), starring Suriya, Asin, Nayanthara and Pradeep Rawat, was also a massive hit. Thus, he firmly established himself as a powerhouse director in the industry.

Since then, Murugadoss has worked with some of the biggest stars in the country, including Rajinikanth (Darbar), Aamir Khan (in the 2008 Hindi remake of Ghajini), Chiranjeevi (Stalin), “Thalapathy” Vijay (Thuppakki, Kaththi and Sarkar), Akshay Kumar (Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty), Mahesh Babu (Spyder) and Suriya (7 Aum Arivu).
Following the debacle of Sikandar, Murugadoss is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming action thriller Madharasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth. The film is set to hit screens on September 5.
