Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (July 3, 2025) criticised the Tamil Nadu government for failing to take steps to fill vacancies in the School Education and Commercial Taxes departments through promotions.
In a statement, Dr. Anbumani said the Commercial Taxes department has been functioning with over 200 vacancies, including the posts of Commercial Tax Officers and Assistant Commissioners, for the past few years. This situation not only affects tax collection but also burdens the existing employees with additional workload, he said.
Similarly, in the School Education department, over a thousand posts, including 15 Chief Educational Officers, 29 District Educational Officers, and several headmaster positions, have been left vacant, affecting administrative functions, he said.
The PMK leader also expressed concern that the shortage of headmasters and teachers would severely hamper the functioning of schools and impact students’ learning outcomes. He urged the State government to take immediate steps to fill vacancies in both departments.
