In a renewed push to realise the vision of a well-planned and inclusive capital, the Andhra Pradesh government has significantly accelerated construction activity across Amaravati, with an aim of transforming it into a vibrant hub of governance and administration.

Spearheaded by multiple renowned infrastructure firms, the development encompasses a wide range of residential and official complexes tailored to house elected representatives, civil servants, judicial officers, and government staff. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has finalised the tenders and the contractors have commenced the construction works in almost all major projects across the city.

A key highlight of the construction boom is the near-completion of residential towers for the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the Legislative Council (MLCs), informed Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana. These buildings are being developed by NCC Limited. The project includes 12 towers with 288 spacious units of 3,500 square feet each, spread over 10.5 acres.

Parallelly, six towers are being built to accommodate All India Services officers, featuring 144 units of similar dimensions, on six acres. Both projects are progressing swiftly with flooring, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works nearing completion.

The quarters for Principal Secretaries and Secretariat officials are under development by KMV Projects. This includes 25 bungalows of 5,000 sq ft and an additional 90 bungalows of 4,000 sq ft each, spread across a sprawling 33.5-acre site. Brickwork is actively under way, and ground floor slabs are already completed, indicating readiness for the next stages of construction. Piling works for compound walls are under progress for these quarters.

BSR Infra is undertaking the development of high-end quarters for ministers and judges. The project comprises 35 ministerial bungalows (6,660 sq ft) and 36 judicial quarters (6,745 sq ft), together covering over 50 acres. Structural works such as slab casting and brickwork are substantially completed, reinforcing the project’s adherence to its timelines, the Minister explained.

The L&T Limited is constructing 21 towers for Non-Gazetted Officers, with 1,968 residential units in total. With a massive built-up area of 35.6 lakh square feet on 26.5 acres, this project is one of the largest in the capital region. Tiling and plumbing works are currently in progress.

Meanwhile, SPCL is executing housing for Gazetted Officers (Type-1 and Type-2) and Group-D staff. The gazetted officers’ quarters include eight towers (720 units in total on an extent of 11.5 acres) with unit sizes ranging from 1,500 to 1,800 sq ft, while the Group-D quarters consist of six towers with another 720 residential units, each measuring 900 sq ft, spanning over 7.5 acres. Painting, internal plumbing, and waterproofing works are moving at a brisk pace across the project area, which spans over 19 acres collectively.

In addition to these, the Minister informed that the construction works have been taken up at the HappyNest, a prestigious residential apartment project for the public, developed by the APCRDA.
