Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil on Thursday refuted the allegations levelLed by the former legislator Dattatreya Patil Revoor that he favoured his close aide Congress South Block unit president Lingaraj Kanni who has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police in connection with a drug case, in tender allocation estimated at ₹20 crore.
“Mr. Revoor should verify the facts before making any allegation,” Mr. Patil said.
Addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi, Mr. Patil said that the tendering process is through online and it was awarded to a construction company. Further, it was subcontracted to three people, including Lingaraj Kanni.
Responding to the drug case in which Lingaraj Kanni has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police, Mr. Patil issued a strong rebuttal saying that he has no connection with the incident and that he has been targeted with baseless allegations which are driven by political motives.
“Though Mr. Kanni is my close associate, I have no knowledge about this case. Nor did I know whether Lingaraj Kanni is involved in the drug case or not,” Mr. Patil said.
The Congress will not tolerate people indulging in anti-social activities in the party and Lingaraj Kanni has been expelled from the party, Mr. Patil said and urged the Maharashtra government to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for fair investigation in the matter.
