Aamir Khan has been omnipresent on all media platforms for the last couple of months. Ever since the actor-producer started promoting his film Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir appeared on many popular YouTube India channels, to spread awareness about his film. Six weeks after the release, Aamir’s film will now be streaming on YouTube following a pay-per-view model. To promote the same, he teamed up with his son Junaid Khan and recreated a scene from his iconic film Andaz Apna Apna.
The promo opens with Aamir Khan playing the role of Deven Verma, who played Aamir’s father in the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial. Coincidentalloy, the director also appears in the promo. Junaid appears in the promo, as he plays Aamir from Andaz Apna Apna. The scene being recreated here is the one where Amar (Aamir) convinces his father to close down their barber shop, so they can open a bangle store. The scene is reinterpreted here with the duo talking about the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube. In the video, Aamir also pokes fun at his recent failures like Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha, and scolds his son by calling him a “nepo kid.”
Aamir’s younger son Azad also makes an appearance towards the end of the video. Rajkumar Santoshi, who directed Andaz Apna Apna, also makes an appearance here. Santoshi is currently directing Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol, under Aamir Khan’s production company.

Aamir recently announced that instead of going towards the OTT route, he chose the pay-per-view model for his latest film. At a recent press conference in Mumbai, he insisted that he refused a Rs 125 crore deal from a major OTT platform because he wanted to get his film to the masses via YouTube. “Almost 55 crore Indians visit YouTube in a single day,” he said and added, “I thought that if I land on YouTube, I can showcase my content everywhere and because of UPI, all Indians can easily pay for it.”
Aamir shared that he launched his YouTube channel Aamir Khan Talkies with the same idea. He added that eventually, all films from his production house will be available on this channel at varying costs. The channel will also upload some content free of cost. Aamir suggested that they would also be curating content of new filmmakers and give them a platform via their channel.
Sitaare Zameen Par will be available on pay-per-view on YouTube India from August 1.
