The Halasuru Gate police registered an FIR on Monday against a social media user for uploading derogatory posts against Congress leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Based on the complaint by Kushal H., a Congress party worker, the police charged the accused operating the Facebook account, ‘krimi keeta’ under Section 353 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) of BNS for further investigation.
In his complaint, Kushal told the police that a social media account posted derogatory videos and doctored audios against Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Siddaramaiah, his deputy D.K. Shivakumar, and other leaders, to defame them.
The police are verifying the details of the account holder to summon him for questioning.
