MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Thursday said that the Centre has released ₹712 crore for taking up several improvement works along the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, which serves as a key link between the State’s capital and cultural capital.
The MP stated that the grant will facilitate implementation of various public utility works along the access-controlled highway.
Several new facilities, such as entry-exit points, railway overbridges, underpasses, overpasses, and service roads among others will be set up for commuters along the highway with the grant, Mr. Yaduveer said in a press release here.
A flyover will be constructed at the Manipal hospital junction in Mysuru city (where the highway ends) to ease traffic congestion, Mr. Yaduveer said. Acting on numerous complaints from the public on congestion at the junction and also on facilities required along the highway, the matter was brought to the notice of the Centre, following which, steps are being taken to address the issues, he added.
The MP said that the Centre is undertaking these improvements to ensure that the highway becomes more beneficial to the people.
“I extend my gratitude on behalf of the people to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning funds for these works. The BJP government will continue to implement more pro-people schemes in the coming days as well,” Mr. Yaduveer stated.
