A general body meeting of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society (NTBRS) has approved a budget of ₹3.78 crore for the 71st edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) to be held on Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha on August 30.
The meeting, held on Friday and chaired by District Collector Alex Varghese, who is also the Chairman of the NTBRS, noted that the expected revenue included a grant of ₹1 crore from the State government and ₹1 crore from ticket sales. Another ₹1.15 crore was expected through sponsorships, and a grant of ₹50 lakh was anticipated from the Union government.
The ticket price for the race remains unchanged. The luxury box (platinum corner, Nehru pavilion) has been fixed at ₹10,000 per seat. A family ticket (four persons- platinum corner) will cost ₹25,000.
Tickets for the other categories are priced at ₹3,000 (tourist gold, Nehru pavilion), ₹2,500 (tourist silver, Nehru pavilion), ₹1,500 (rose corner), ₹500 (victory lane wooden gallery), ₹300 (all view wooden gallery), ₹200 (lake view gold wooden gallery), and ₹100 (lawn).
The technical committee appointed by the NTBRS, meanwhile, recommended that the timing of the boats in the NTBR final be recorded up to three decimal places, following minutes and seconds.
If multiple boats finish at the same time, the committee proposed that the winner be decided through a draw. It also suggested that the trophy be shared, with each team holding it for six months. A draw will determine which team holds the cup for the first six months.
